private lessons downtown Montreal

( 8 years and + )

Children that are shy often see expressing themselves as a huge obstacle.

Exploring the sound of their voice can help them open up through self-expression.

Through soft breathing and vocal exercises, and discovering how to use the power of their imagination to interpret songs, children will develop their creativity, connect with their emotions, and boost their self-confidence.

They will be introduced to music theory, note reading and rhythm to enjoy a real musical experience as I play duets with them at the piano, harp or cello.

They will also have the opportunity to discover mindfulness exercises to help them manage stress, stay focused and fully enjoy their singing lesson.

Tools that will serve them all of their lives.

FAQ

  • All children (6 - 16 years) who love to sing, and want to learn to express themselves in a healthy and creative way.

These lessons can be especially helpful for children that are shy and have minor anxiety.

  • Children are usually ready to start singing lessons between the ages 6-8, though it varies from child to child.

I am able to teach and support children over the age of 6 years old. It’s never too late to start!

However, if your child is over 16 years of age my singing lessons for adults may be a better fit.

  • Yes. Everyone can learn to sing on key!

In our lessons, your child will learn to train their brain to reproduce the sound they hear.

It takes practice, more practice, positive encouragement and patience :)

  • Singing lessons will teach your child to:

    • Connect with their breath and voice

    • Explore vocal techniques

    • Learn to sing on pitch and follow a rhythm

    • Understand the basics of music theory

  • I always start by asking the child what mood they’re in so we can talk a little bit about it.

We also will talk about their practices, and then will do a small wellness meditation or fun exercise.

Next we’ll start working on breathing and vocal exercises that I have created especially for them.

We will sing some notes with the piano to work on pitch and rhythm, and finally we will sing a song chosen for their level in which I offer an accompaniment on the piano.

All of this is done in a safe, relaxing, and non-judgemental atmosphere so that your child feels they can express themselves in a healthy and creative way.

  • Yes! I always reserve 5 minutes for the parent(s) at the beginning and end of the lesson to get in touch with how the practices are going and to help you be present for your child.

These check-ins support us all in making the most of the singing lessons.

Note: The singing lessons are only available downtown Montreal.

Please feel free to contact me so we can discuss what would be the best plan for you and your child.

  • I have been teaching singing lessons to kids for 17 years in many schools.

You can read more about my story in my about section.

  • No, the lessons cannot replace music therapy or regular therapy.

As I don’t have accreditation in those areas, the lessons are created mainly to develop children’s creativity and wellness (but not in a therapeutical sense).

If your child has anxiety disorders or autism I recommend getting in touch with a specialized therapist.

  • No refund is possible after the lessons are complete, but if for some reason you need to stop our sessions together, we can discuss a potential refund.

This will depend on how many sessions you have remaining, and how much notice is given.

All possibilities will be explored at the time of the request.

  • If for some reason you need to miss a class, we can reschedule.

However, I need to be advised at least 48 hours before the absence.

There is also a limit of 3 missed classes per package (4 months) or the class will be lost.

Of course, there can be major exceptions that we can discuss together.

I always keep an open mind so that everybody can enjoy the best experience possible.
